On Tuesday, June 24th, we celebrated Kathryn's 5th birthday in Athens, Greece!!!
We celebrated her special day by visiting the Acropolis.
Next, we went out for lunch. We had to walk there because the taxi drivers had no idea what we were talking about when we asked them to take us to TGIFriday's. We had eaten at TGIFriday's a few days earlier and she loved it and asked if we could go back for her birthday. The food is actually very American. It was true to the brand, except the soda still tasted local and different.
When we arrived and were talking to the hostess, Kathryn was actually not shy and told her that it was her birthday today.
After we ate our lunch, our waitress and other servers all came out and sang "Happy Birthday" to Kathryn.
She was a little bashful, but it totally made her day!
After dinner, when we were back at our apartment, we had some cake and ice cream. We haven't figured out all of the baking ingredients in Greek yet, but the little store we go to on the corner had some of these rounded cakes that we were able to buy and they worked fine.
That night Kathryn called her Grandma Cannegieter and the Meek house and talked all their ears off. She loved telling them all about her special day.
5 Things about Kathryn:
1. She loves to play with her little princess dolls. She will play with them for hours!
2. She has discovered the Magic School Bus series on Netflix and loves it!
3. She loves the Magic Tree House books and we read one almost every night. She really connects to the character Annie from the book as she lives in a flying house right now and gets to visit some of the same places Annie and Jack do.
4. She gets frustrated being the youngest child with a flying house full of teens. She doesn't like to be told what to do by 5 people :) (I have no idea where she gets that from!)
5. She loves Studio C and will act out many of the skits, even though she doesn't really understand sometimes what she is saying. She just knows that it's funny.
We love you Kathryn!!

ReplyDeleteI need to watch some magic school bus with Maddy and see if she is into them yet. I really like that show.
I have never watched Studio C. I keep hearing about it but I have no idea what it is.
