Thessaloniki, Greece - Have you heard of it?
Me neither, until we looked on Ryanair's website and found it to be an inexpensive option to visit between our stays in Rome and Athens. We originally were going to visit Santorini, but it's a very popular destination to visit and so you can pay a high price to go there. By the time I had the housing lined up and I was going to book our air travel there, it went up so high that it was going to cost us almost $1500 just to get there. So we went for the off the beaten path and budget friendly direction and made the journey to discover Thessaloniki.
Kathryn loves to chase the European pigeons. She could spend hours running around with them.
This church is on our street and we haven't been able to make there to visit inside before they lock the front gates. Hopefully before we leave we can see inside.
The outside of Thessaloniki is it's own art museum. There are many statues and modern works of art everywhere.
We loved walking down by the water. The weather was perfect!
So many places to see, so little town. Yes, Scott went with the American city.
I've only seen jellyfish washed up on the beach or at an aquarium. I've never seen them swimming in their natural habitats! There were a handful and we spent a lot of time watching them.
Kathryn found her own splash pad!
Statute of Alexander the Great
Love the greek lettering!
More statues!
It definitely is a fun city. Not many tourists and very Greek. We have loved shopping here because the prices on clothes are so much cheaper than what we have seen in Italy and France. You know it is a great city when it has 4 H&M's!!!!
