When we were little, my sister and I loved to swim in the lake, hike the mountains, ski and snowboard down the back hill in our yard, but we also loved to fish for trout! One of the best things about growing up in the little community of Spring Lake was that we had a Trout Farm nearby our house. I used to have the stomache to be able to put a worm on a hook and to handle a caught fish, but those days are gone! My sister Kris and I decided to relive our childhood and our kids fishing last week at the Spring Lake Trout Farm. Luckily, she did all the dirty work (handling dead fish and slimy worms)while I captured the moment. I thought it was a great trade off :)!!The kids had a great time because they were able to take in the experience of fishing with immediate gratification!! Kris's children took more after her and grabbed all the fish. All mine were squeamish like me, but towards the end Scott decided that he was going to learn how to hook a worm.

Way to go Scott. I was the same way when I was a kid. I didn't mind putting the worm on the hook or even cleaning the fish, infact I loved going fishing. Now I just would rather buy it already skinned and cleaned for me and ready to use. I haven't gone fishing in a few years. Good job at taking the pictures. I think it is a good trade off.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been the weekend for fishing because Me and the Kids went fishing with my mom this weekend and Mollie was the only one to catch a fish. I'm more like your sister, Kris...I don't mind the worms and the dead fish. Thanks for sharing your family trip with us!!!!
ReplyDeleteawww, I so glad that place is still open!!
ReplyDeleteJeff- It is sooo crazy to see that trout farm sign on your blog- Ive ridden past it a few times on my horse and my son Bryce caught a fish there as a cub scout activity. LOL! I hope you don't mind me peeking into your blog every so often- Take care!
