For FHE, we drove down to Kennesaw Mountain to see the 9/11 - Field of Flags Display
One flag was displayed for each person who lost their life on 9/11.
It was very solemn, but was a beautiful site to see. I had hoped we could have gone over the weekend to the actual ceremony, but it was nice to be able to go there with out the crowds to have time to reflect and remember that day.
I remember that day vividly. I had dropped the boys off at preschool and had headed to Barrett Pkway to get some shopping done when I heard about the first plane crashing in the WTC on the radio. I immediately went to Grandma Cannegieter's house and turned on the news and watched everything unfold. I can't believe it has been 10 years since the day that changed every American's life, but I know the lives lost will never be forgotten.
