Life in Dinan: Laundry

I wanted to start keeping record of the more day-to-day things of how our daily routine has changed and also, how it has stayed the same since moving to France. When you have a family of 6, laundry is a big part of the day.

This is a picture of our living room in our Dinan house. Behind the blue doors is a little addition to the house which equates to more of a shed. It has a few shelves, a small bathroom, and a washing machine.

Most people don't own a dryer in France. When we stayed in Paris a few years ago, we quickly adjusted to not having a dryer and became best friends with the dry rack.  I'm so glad that the rental house came had one too and so it has made drying our clothes so much easier.

I do run out of room fast using the dry rack. So I have become creative and hang the remaining clothes on the stairs that lead from the kitchen to the bedrooms upstairs.  A bonus to this is that I can't do more than two loads of laundry a day. Yay!

Doing laundry is an all day event. The washer cycle lasts a lot longer than I remember in the USA.  I try to have the clothes hanging out overnight and so we don't have the house full of drying clothes all day. I noticed a clothes line outside in the garden that I definitely am going to use when the weather warms up a bit more.
