#tbt Asia Adventure

***Warning! Long post!

Last year at this time we were on an adventure of a lifetime! For #tbt, I'm going to include memories from this incredible trip.

A close friend of mine called me late one night and asked if Jeff and I would like some buddy passes through Delta Airlines. Of course we said YES! We will gladly take them off your hands! We first planned to go to Europe to plan a move, but we were unable to figure out the babysitting thing. Once we knew we were moving to Utah, we knew we'd have that covered by my sister Kris aka: Aunt Mary Poppins. Once we settled after moving to Utah, we started talking about where we wanted to go and we decided we'd like to go to Brazil and Argentina. Neither of us have to been to South America and so we thought it would be a great adventure. Unfortunately, Brazil's Visa can be difficult to obtain. We ran out of time with the deadline coming closer to the expiration date of the buddy passes. We switched the itinerary and decided to go to Tokyo and then venture around there standby. We left on March 10, 2013.

We loved our time in Tokyo! The city is very clean and high tech! The people were very kind and friendly. If we stopped on the street and started looking at our map, we immediately had people who would stop and ask it we needed help finding anything. We walked everywhere there and so my legs hurt so bad by the end of the day. Highlights were visiting the gardens and shrines. We also attended the English speaking ward (next to the temple) while we were there which was pretty fun!

After 3 nights in Tokyo, we headed to Hong Kong. We took the wrong train and barely made it to the Tokyo airport on time. We were running to the ticket gate to check in and we were surprised to find that we made it on the flight and we were upgraded to first class!

Once we made it to our hotel, we were exhausted. The jet lag finally was setting in at full force for me. The next morning after we made our travel plans for Thailand, we left the hotel and explored the city. Some of the highlights were the fish and jade markets. The business side of the city reminded me a lot of San Francisco.

After 2 days in Hong Kong, we left for Phuket, Thailand. If you have the traveling bug like us, go to this place- GO NOW!

We originally had planned to stay a few nights here, but once we arrived and found that our dollar went far in this country, we extended our time in this beautiful place. We were able to get a "bali" pool villa for 5 nights in Phuket. It was absolutely amazing. Highlights of this trip were the Phuket Fantasea show (similar to the PCC) where we rode on an elephant and our snorkeling tour to Phi Phi Island. Funny fact on that trip was that we sat next to the first Americans we had seen in this country on the boat and found out they were from Atlanta!

Next stop: Singapore!!
