The Day We Finally Saw The Eiffel Tower After Living in France For 6 Weeks.
It just seemed so wrong and almost sacrilegious that we were in France and hadn't spent any time exploring Paris and enjoying the view of the sparkling Eiffel Tower. When we rented a van for a week to take care of all of our Visa paperwork, I started to plant a seed in everybody's head about making the 3.5 hour drive to Paris from Dinan on a Saturday. Mission accomplished! Everybody was on board to go after thinking about it for a few days. We just had to get everybody moving early since we usually sleep in everyday because we are all night owls. We actually were out of the house before 9am and everybody was happily enjoying their movie on the laptop and the yummy treats we bought the night before at our family favorite store- Lidl! The drive wasn't bad and luckily we didn't have a rough time finding a parking spot. We parked next to the Eiffel Tower and began our day of exploring there. We wanted to walk around the 7th Arr. and 6th Arr. to see if there were any real estate agencies with any rental postings so we did that first. Luckily the weather was perfect and there was no rain! We then stumbled upon the military museum and walked around the courtyard and explored for awhile.
After that we ended up walking all the way to the Luxembourg Gardens! We spent some time there and so everybody was happy. We spent our 50 cents each to use the public restroom (you have to pay to use public restrooms here most of the time) and found birds to throw bread to and chase. Next, we headed to Notre Dame and then onto the Louvre.
Once there we took a break from walking and jumped on the Metro to Trocadero. We had promised Kathryn if she was good all day she could ride the carousel there. It was so magical because while she was riding it, the lights started to sparkle in her eyes and on the Eiffel Tower. Sadly, the day had ended and so we said our goodbyes to the travel icon of the world and headed back to Brittany. It was a great day and we look forward to returning!
