Our Dinan House
When we had made the decision to move to France, we immediately started our search in Paris for a place to live. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find what we were looking for in Paris that was within our budget. Once we started adding up the moving costs (visas, luggage, plane tickets, etc.) we decided to start looking in other regions in France that wouldn't require us to purchase a vehicle and would have much cheaper housing options. I found a cute townhouse in Josselin and we started talking with the owner to get more information. When I researched more on this village in the Brittany region, we found that many shops and stores were closed during the winter season and there aren't many buses and trains that go through the village daily. The owner told us about a family's blog who had stayed in her house and their adventures. In one post, they had written about a place they had visited called Dinan. All of their pictures looked so amazing and so I started looking on VRBO in Dinan and found the house we are in! When applying for a visa, you have to show evidence that you have a place to stay. We were only able to book this place until the end of April and we were fine with that because if we ended up not being approved for the visa, we wouldn't be out any money if we had to cancel. When we finally arrived in Dinan it was around 10pm. I'm sure it was quite the sight to see a family of 6 with lots of luggage in tow navigating the best they could at night through the village. When we walked in, honestly, it wasn't love at first sight. I know that is mainly from traveling for 24 hours straight. I was happy that there were enough beds for everyone and room for our stuff. It was just a little dusty and had a few too many cobwebs for my liking at first, but we were able to eventually get everything cleaned up good and air it out a bit. Then once we started venturing outside, we were in love with the location of the house and the village of Dinan.
