We wanted to end Grandma King's visit with us on a really high note! So we took her to one of the most beautiful cities in Europe - Venice!
We parked outside of the city and took the train into the city center. We then started walking around and followed the signs to the Rialto Bridge.
On this street, we found the best pizza place. We ordered a large cheese pizza and ate it in a small piazza that was uncrowded. The weather was perfect for our little picnic!
After winding through the streets for awhile and only getting separated a few times...
We made it to the beautiful Rialto Bridge!
At the top of our list of things to do during this visit was taking Grandma on a gondola ride. One guy wouldn't take us because our group was too large. This guy happily loaded us up and took us on a ride through the beautiful canals of Venice.
I love this place!
After he dropped us off back by the bridge, we quickly walked over it and enjoyed the views.
Kathryn is a little obsessed with chasing pigeons and so we took her to pigeon heaven at St. Mark's Square.
I think we were easily there for over an hour while Grandma King rested her legs nearby. Kathryn did not want to leave!
Before we left, Grandma joined in on the fun.
A guy was walking through the square selling food in little baggies for a euro. We bought a few bags and then we had a bunch of new friends following us everywhere.
Instead of taking the long walk back to the train station we took a water taxi. Even though it was crowded, our legs and feet were very thankful for the break.
After a quick train ride, we made it back to the car and drove for around 4 hours back to Menton. Venice is definitely worth the trip!
